Roaring Robotics actively promotes FIRST robotics and technology through many outreach activities.

February 2020 - STEM Expo
IIT Rice Campus, Wheaton
Roaring Robotics showed off a demonstration robot drive train at STEM Expo in celebration of engineering week. Several families expressed interest in having their students join our team. Our team was hosted by the Chicago Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers for the event.

Roaring Robotics showed off their competition robot at the Robotics Extravaganza, hosted by Gear It Forward, Team 2338 of Oswego.

Roaring Robotics competed and showed of their robot at the annual Flapjack Challenge hosted by Winnovation, Team 1625 of Winnebago.

Eola Road Branch Library
In partnership with the Aurora Public Library and FIRST Technology Competition Team 11392, Roaring Robotics hosted a meet the robots event at the Eola Road Branch of the Aurora Public Library.

February 2019 - STEM Expo
IIT - Rice Campus
In partnership with Chapter 5 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Roaring Robotics showed off two team robots. Over a 100 people toured the room and checked out our robots. Fifteen families expressed interest in joining our team.

Extravaganza - Aurora
Roaring Robotics was part of the Robotics Extravaganza, hosted by Gear-It-Forward, Team 2338. The Extravaganza provided the team an opportunity to show off our season competition robot and let it scrimmage with other robots.

December 2018 - ChickTech
Benedictine University
Roaring Robotics and Defenestration, Team 11392, partnered with ChickTech at Benedictine University to provide three workshops for girls to learn about science and technology.

Novermber 2018 - STEAMfest 2018, hub88, Naperville
Roaring Robotics joined hub88 in reaching out to women interested in technology at STEAMfest 2018. Check out the news clip featuring an interview with one of our students. One visiting student even joined our team!

TEDxNaperville
Roaring Robotics partnered with hub88 to reach out to entrepreneurs, families, and students about robotics at TEDxNaperville. One of our competition robots made the trek to show off. Two students from one family attending ended up joining our team.

August 2018 - East Aurora High School
Roaring Robotics along with Q-Bert met with 17 students at East Aurora High School. The students were introduced to what a robotics team does and what it takes to be on a team.

August 2018 - Batavia Public Library
Roaring Robotics exhibited Q-Bert the robot and it’s cousin, Q2, at the Batavia Public Library in downtown Batavia, Ill. In addition to some young visitors, a group of girls from Mooseheart checked out the team.

August 2018 - Aurora Public Library’s Santori Library
Roaring Robotics exhibited Q-Bert the robot and it’s cousin, Q2, at the Santori Library in downtown Aurora. The team provided robot demonstrations in the library atrium, both with robots running and getting repaired.

July 2018 - Aurora Public Library’s Eola Road Branch
Roaring Robotics exhibited Q-Bert the robot at the Eola Road Branch library. In addition to doing robot demonstrations in a conference room, the team also had information tables set-up in the lobby area of the library with game animation videos and videos of the team’s robot in competition.

May 2018 - GreenFields of Geneva Senior Living Community
We received a somewhat unusual request for an outreach activity. The GreenFields of Geneva requested that we do a robot demo for their senior living community. We took up the request, showed them our team, and answered their questions. Check out our blog article here.

May 2018 - Home School COOP Student Expo
Members of the team and Q-Bert the Robot made an appearance at the C.H.A.R.I.S. Home School COOP Student Expo at Village Bible Church in Sugar Grove, Ill. As one of our students was a member of the COOP, she was able to tell the group about her contributions to the team. Of course, the team also took the time to show off Q-Bert.

May 2018 - Presentation at Alice Gustafson Elementary for S.H.E.
Four girls, one of the guys, and a small robot from the Roaring Robotics team gave a presentation at the STEM, Herstory, Education group of 4th grade girls from Batavia Public Schools. As part of the program, girls learn about famous women in engineering and science, with the occasional local robotics hero. Check out the blog article here.

April 2018 - Science Fair at JB Nelson Elementary School
Roaring Robotics showed up with the robot for a science fair at JB Nelson Elementary School in Batavia, Ill.

April 2018 - Batavia Music Buffs Hoagie Sale
Roaring Robotics assisted with the Batavia Music Buffs annual Hoagie sale by doing clean-up. Of course, we introduced the music community to robots by having our 2018 season robot there for show along with invitations to our upcoming open house strategically placed in Hoagie bags.

January 2018 - What Ya Workin’ On Meeting
Roaring Robotics often participates in Make-It-Here’s monthly “What Ya Workin’ On Meetings.” The meetings are open to the public and are for makers to discuss the projects their working on and get some feedback from the group. Here, the team discussed the challenge for the 2018 Power Up season competition and their plans to address the challenge.

November 2017 - BP Technology Day
Roaring Robotics participated in a technology day hosted by BP [British Petroleum] at their Naperville campus. One of the team coaches was present to talk about the team and robot from the previous year’s robot. About ten high schools participated in the event. (No photos were permitted of the students participating.)

October 2017 - School Board Meeting
Three Roaring Robotics students were accepted into Congressman Randy Hultgren’s STEM Scholar Program. The students made a presentation at the beginning of the Batavia School Board meeting about our robotics team and the STEM Scholar program.

Roaring Robotics participated in Batavia High School’s annual Homecoming Parade with the team and robots on display.

Roaring Robotics showed off robots and talked to families at the Batavia High School’s annual Corn Boil.

Roaring Robotics hosted a North Aurora Girl Scout troop at the downtown Batavia build space.

February 2017 - Robotics Extravaganza
Roaring Robotics participated and brought their robot to the Robotics Extravaganza hosted by Gear It Forward, Team 2338, which was open to the public.

January - February 2017 - The Robot Factory
Roaring Robotics temporarily leased a vacant retail space in downtown Batavia for the 2017 Steamworks build season. The space was aptly dubbed the “The Robot Factory.” As the location was in a retail area with a lot of pedestrian traffic, the team invited the public to come in and check out the space on Saturdays.

Roaring Robotics showed off robots and met with families at Batavia’s annual BatFest.
