Roaring Robotics at the 2018 Midwest Regional (Chicago)

Roaring Robotics made it to the Midwest Regional Competition again, April 5 - 7, 2018. The competition was held at the University of Chicago Pavilion. The Pavilion was set up with about a third of it set aside for the field where spectators could see the matches.

And the back two thirds was set-up for the pits.

The first order of business was getting the pit set-up. In addition to robot upkeep and maintenance, the pit serves as a spot for other teams to learn about our team.

Like Peoria, there was a lot of talking to judges.

Of course, there was a lot of continuing work on the robot.

We did some cool robot testing...

We discovered that we had a mascot - a slightly larger version of Jack, our safety dinosaur.

Our drive team handled everything from getting the robot out to the field to actually driving it. We also had human players ready to place cubes as needed.

Our robot took to the field and performed well.

We had lots of opportunities for students and families to watch and have fun.

We did, of course, get a team photo.
